Colon Hydrotherapy

Ancient Egyptians used colon cleansing as a Respected Health Practice:

Colon Hydrotherapy, also referred to as Colon Cleansing, Colon Irrigation, or Colonics is a gentle, clean and relaxing experience. A soothing flow of filtered, temperature-controlled water gently circulates throughout the colon, coaxing your body to release the digested toxins and waste that may have built up inside the large intestinal walls without the use of chemicals or drugs.

The importance of colon care is found in the oldest medical records to date, the “Indu Vedas” some 4000 years ago. It is again recorded as far back as 1500 B.C. in an Egyptian medical document called the “Eber Papyrus”. Enemas therapies were further advanced by Hippocrates, Pare and Galen. In fact, in days of the New Testament the “Essenes” have records of filling gourds with river water to cleanse their bowels.

The Famous Dr. Kellogg and colon cleansing:

John H. Kellogg. M.D., credited with the cereal Kellogg’s Corn Flakes, extensively used colon therapy on some forty thousand of his patients in his Michigan health retreat center. He used no surgery for the treatment of gastrointestinal disease in his patients in all but 20 cases which he reported in 1917 to the Journal of the American Medical Association. In creating his cereal he was trying to get his message across of how important a fibrous diet and colon care is for optimum health.

Modern Day Therapy:

"Believe it or not, I look forward to my colon hydrotherapy sessions at Mt Rainier Clinic. They are professional and the rooms are super clean. Colon hydrotherapy not only cleans out the colon, but after the session I experience more energy and the alkalizing effects leave me with the desire to eat healthier. The LIBBE is comfortable and I like that I can be alone when I need to be.”

Colon Hydrotherapy was used frequently in hospitals until the 1950’s. In the mid 60’s the use of colon irrigations slowly dwindled until approximately 1972 when most colon hydrotherapy instruments were removed from the hospitals and nursing homes as other medical procedures and prescriptive laxatives became the vogue.

In spite of these “in vogue” medical procedures, a few doctors continued to recommend colon hydrotherapy. The profession continued to grow and the colonic equipment continued its evolution. Today’s technology uses purified, filtered, warm water and promotes both safety and sanitation. It has become an integral part of nutritional health since it is a way to clean out the toxins hiding in one’s colon. This hydration and elimination process yields cleaning and revitalization of the colon and a more efficient functioning body.

colonColon hydrotherapy is most effective when used in combination with optimum nutrition, fluid intake, and positive thinking.

Preparing for your first colon hydrotherapy session is important and will make for a pleasant experience.

What to expect from your colon hydrotherapy session at Mt Rainier Clinic:

Mt Rainier Clinic uses FDA registered class II equipment which is user friendly. It is called the LIBBE, “an open system”.

Experiencing a colonic on the LIBBE open system is an experience you will never forget! The LIBBE offers you the opportunity to relax in a reclining position where you are instructed by one of our colon hydrotherapists to self insert a small, sterile, disposable rectal tube for the inflow of water. A built in toilet-like drain allows for easy release of waste and you can urinate freely as well. A long, clear tube to view what is being released is both educational and entertaining.

After taking a personal health history and reviewing your health concerns and cleansing goals, our colon hydrotherapist will explain in detail the safety and details of our equipment and will instruct you on how easy it is to insert the rectal tube. In the privacy of the colon hydrotherapy room, you will insert the rectal tube, then cover yourself with a large towel. The session lasts approximately 45-60 minutes. After each session the device and room is throughly disinfected and sanitized.

Mt Rainier Clinic is a proud member for the International Association of Colon Hydrotherapy.
